Question 1

Who can see my clients' data?

Accepted Answer

Only you and the client on that project. Each provider sees only the projects they created; each client sees only the projects they are named on, through their own sign-in or a private portal link. Expenses, provider margins and draft invoices are never shown to clients, and Greenlit never sells data or uses project content for advertising.

Question 2

How do client portal links work?

Accepted Answer

Every project has a private portal link you can copy and email from the project page. Your client opens it in a browser — no account needed — and sees the contract summary, agreed scope, approved changes and invoices. Anyone with the link can view that project, so share it only with your client. You can reset the link at any time, which instantly invalidates the old one.

Question 3

How does the payment flow work?

Accepted Answer

When you mark an invoice as due, your client gets a Pay now button on their portal with a secure card form. The payment is processed by our payment provider (cards are never stored by Greenlit), the invoice flips to Paid automatically, and you receive a confirmation email. If your client pays by bank transfer instead, they can tap "I've paid another way" and you mark the invoice paid yourself.

Question 4

Where does the money from client payments go?

Accepted Answer

Card payments collected through Greenlit go straight to the payment account connected to your Greenlit workspace, minus the card processor's standard fee (about 2.9% + 30¢ per card payment). Greenlit takes no extra cut of your transactions.

Question 5

What happens when a client approves a change order?

Accepted Answer

The client reviews the change side-by-side with the original contract — extra cost and extra days — and approves it with an e-signature. The moment it is approved, the project's current budget and deadline recalculate automatically, and the extra cost is collected through a normal invoice. Nothing changes until your client signs.

Question 6

Is Greenlit free? What do the plans include?

Accepted Answer

There is a free plan with a read-only dashboard — you can look around, but you cannot create projects. Paid plans are Solo ($19/month), Studio ($49/month) and Agency ($99/month). They differ by how many active projects you can run at once: 3 for Solo, 10 for Studio, and unlimited for Agency. Every plan includes change orders, e-signatures, the client portal, budget tracking and invoice payments.

Question 7

How many projects can I have?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your plan: 3 active projects on Solo, 10 on Studio, and unlimited on Agency. Completed projects do not count toward your cap, so you can archive freely. The limit is enforced server-side, so it applies no matter what browser or device you use.

Question 8

How do I upgrade my plan?

Accepted Answer

Go to the Pricing page, pick Solo, Studio or Agency, choose monthly or yearly billing (yearly gives you two months free), and pay securely by card. Your new project cap applies immediately. You can also switch plans or cancel anytime from the Manage plan screen — if you cancel, you keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Question 9

Can I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

Yes, anytime, from the Manage plan screen. You keep full access until the end of your current billing period; after that your account moves to the free plan, which is read-only. Your projects and data are kept — upgrade again and everything is exactly where you left it.

Question 10

Do my clients need an account?

Accepted Answer

No. Clients can view their project, approve change orders and pay invoices through the private portal link, with no sign-up. If a client does create a client-role account, they can sign in and see the projects they are named on directly.
