Privacy Policy
Last updated September 28, 2026
Greenlit is a tool for freelancers and agencies to manage project contracts, change orders and invoices with their clients. This policy explains what information the service collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we store your email address, your company name (if you provide one) and the role you choose (agency / freelancer or client). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
Project information. Providers enter project titles, descriptions, agreed scope items, budgets and deadlines. Change orders, client e-signatures, and the timestamps of approvals are stored as part of the project record.
Billing information. Providers log invoices and expenses against a project. Clients may submit a short payment note when they confirm an invoice has been paid. Greenlit does not process card payments and never collects or stores card numbers or bank details.
Client portal links. Each project has a private portal link so clients can view their project without an account. Anyone with the link can view that project's portal, so providers should share it only with the intended client.
How we use information
We use the information above only to operate the service:
- To show providers and clients their projects, budgets, change orders and invoices.
- To recalculate contract totals and deadlines when a change order is approved.
- To send transactional emails (invitations, invoice and change-order notices, payment confirmations and account emails) from our sending domain.
- To keep accounts secure, including authentication and password protection.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use project content for advertising.
Who can see what
Providers see the projects they created and everything logged against them, including expenses and margins. Clients see only the projects they are named on: the contract summary, agreed scope, approved changes and invoices that have been sent to them. Expenses, draft invoices and provider margins are never shown to clients.
Service providers that host our infrastructure (application hosting, database and email delivery) process data on our behalf to run the service.
Data retention and deletion
Your project data is kept while your account is active. If you want your account or a project deleted, contact us and we will remove it, including the associated scope items, change orders, invoices and portal links.
Cookies and sign-in sessions
Greenlit uses the session storage needed to keep you signed in. We also use Affonso, an affiliate (referral) tracking service, which sets a cookie for up to 30 days when you arrive through a partner's referral link so we can credit that partner if you sign up. Affonso receives the referring link, pages visited, and approximate location. You can block or delete this cookie in your browser settings at any time. We do not use advertising cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email.
